This course has been developed to introduce/ refresh/ expand your skills, knowledge and confidence in providing high-quality outdoor learning experiences for young children.

Our course is accessible 24/7 on any desktop or mobile device for you to learn at a time & pace that feels right for you.

Our team are on hand to support you with your outdoor learning objectives via online, email & phone.
What Can You Expect?
The course has 3 themes, each with 3 lessons online for you to work your way through at your own pace and with activities to complete throughout. Although these aren't compulsory, each activity has been designed to help you to deepen your understanding. There are, however, compulsory questions to answer at the end of each lesson in the form of a multiple-choice quiz.

The Place
Including what Forest Kindergarten is and why it matters.
The People
Including the role of leading a forest kindergarten session and supporting children to be "forest ready".
The Pedagogy
Including outdoor play-based approaches and designing nature-based activities.
🍃 Your Learning Pathway
We anticipate the online lessons should take approx. 1-2 hours per theme, but are designed for you to work through at your own pace.
🍃 Upon Completion
You will receive a certificate to show that you have completed the course and you can use this to support evidence for your own personal CPD such as on your SSSC or GTCS profile.

If 5 or more of you sign up from the same setting, we will offer the opportunity for you to visit us in our natural habitat - Little Bugs Nursery, Fordell Firs or Abercorn - and witness the Forest Kindergarten approach in everyday practice.
